Bayville is an unincorporated area of Berkeley Township and is located in the central portion of Ocean County, New Jersey. It is a Jersey Shore community situated in a coastal area that lies mostly on the mainland. Bayville is comprised of a significant percentage of family households with many homes along the shores of Barnegat Bay and numerous lagoons. It encompasses 18.85 square miles of the total area of Berkeley Township. Berkeley Township is home to two state parks. Island Beach State Park located on the barrier island that establishes the eastern boarder of the township is a 10-mile long park with white sandy beaches on the Atlantic Ocean and is a very popular vacation destination. Residents and visitors enjoy recreational activities such as swimming, boating, crabbing, surfing, jet-skiing, and fishing in both the Atlantic Ocean and Barnegat Bay. Double Trouble State Park, located in the most western part of the township is the site of an Ocean Spray cranberry bog and is said to be haunted by the infamous New Jersey Devil. Nearby points of interest include Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ, Blue Claws minor league baseball in Lakewood, NJ, beautiful golf and yacht clubs, boardwalk amusement rides and carnival games, and live entertainment at numerous waterfront restaurants.

During the summer months residents enjoy the humid subtropical climate with the daily high temperature reaching an average of 86 degrees Fahrenheit in July. In contrast, the climate during winter months is cold with daily temperatures reaching an average high of 40 degrees in January.
